Aspenleaf Shelties is a small Shetland Sheepdog breeding program in Dewy Rose, Georgia, focused on producing Shelties with quality, soundness, and true breed character. We are not interested in producing puppies in volume. We are interested in producing the right puppies from the right combinations.
I dreamed of owning Shelties from a young age, but waited until family life made room for the time and commitment good dogs deserve. When our youngest child became involved in dogs through 4-H, we welcomed our first Sheltie and quickly discovered how deeply this breed could shape a home and a future.
Our first Sheltie, DJ, may not have been a conformation dog, but he was the start of everything. Through him, we were introduced to obedience, rally, conformation, and a community of breeders and exhibitors who taught us what thoughtful breeding really means.
The Shetland Sheepdog is deeply loyal, intelligent, affectionate, and responsive. At Aspenleaf Shelties, we work to preserve the melting expression, sound structure, correct movement, and stable temperament that make the breed so distinctive.
We study pedigrees, compete in AKC shows and performance events, and evaluate each dog as part of a larger breeding picture. Titles matter to us not for vanity, but because they help confirm quality, structure, and the consistency of the lines we are working to preserve.
Health and temperament are at the center of every breeding decision we make. Our adult Shelties are tested for hips, vWD, thyroid, DMS, and eye certification, and we plan litters with the long-term health and integrity of the breed in mind.
We are proud members of the Centennial Shetland Sheepdog Club and the American Shetland Sheepdog Association, and we are recognized by the American Kennel Club as Breeders of Merit. Our dogs are first and foremost part of our family, and the puppies we place are matched carefully with homes that value that same level of commitment.
